A Jolly Holiday to Hobby Lobby!

Whenever there is a really good sale at Hobby Lobby (as in $0.99 pattern sales) you just have to take advantage of them. Mama and I had such a fun time searching through the patterns, and I went home with new inspiration.

 This one does close in the back with a zipper, but I can think of several ways to get rid of that.
It also comes with pattern for pocket hoops.

 I'll use this for my Dicken's Caroling costume I haven't made yet :)

    Oh fun! I've made Simplicity 2890 several times and was very pleased with that corset. :)

The Patriot's Riding Habit

I've wanted to make a riding habit for a while, and finally started one a few months ago, but then life happened and I didn't work on it for a long time, then I decided to finish it for our upcoming trip to Colonial Williamsburg *s queals* . This will be my fourth trip! I decided to make the habit look like the generals uniforms, so it's kind of a cosplay project. I draped the entire thing to myself which had it's trouble spots, but was enjoyable just the same. Enough talking - here are the pictures! Ready to cut out the waistcoat from the drafted pattern Waistcoat lining with puffy shirt  (the sleeves on the puffy shirt are ridiculously puffy :D )  And now with the fabric  And then I started draping the coat.  I'm sorry the lighting is so bad!  I didn't take any pictures of the construction of the coat, but here it is after I added the sleeves  And here it is after I had to modify the sleeves......

Colonial Williamsburg Fall 2016 Day 2

On day two, I wore the riding habit. It was overcast all morning, but it held off long enough for the fife and drum march - we got to see Clare again! Even if it was overcast, it was HOT, m ostly because of the humidity. Kristi and I retreated to the cool shade of the Carpenter's shop to play the harpsichord again.   Clare knew more about my riding habit than I did, and tied my scarf for me Never mess with a girl with a musket ;) Lunch at the King's Arms.  We got to see our waiter from last time - he remembered us!  Stuck a feather in her hat and called it macaroni! Next we decided to do something crazy. It started raining cats and dogs at lunch time. My parents went back to our hotel and left Kristi and I do have are adventures in the rain. 50's Swing Dress Part 1

After making Leisl's Dancing Dress , I was in a wild sewing craze, so I jumped into the sewing room, and came out with a 50's swing dress. Here are some pictures of the construction: 1. Cut out a rectangle. The length should be the length from side to side across you chest. The width should be from were you want the neckline to be down to a few inches below your waistline. 2. Pin it on the dress form wrong side out! 3. Make darts to fit the front more to come!
