Stardust Gown ✨

Image
So I *finally* started watching the Star Wars movies (I saw the original 3 when I was like 6, but that's it), saw Padme Amidala's outfits AND I listened to a new ethereal meditation playlist in the same week... and the inevitable happened :)  Of course, this dress is not very "Star Wars-y," but the thing I love about Padme's outfits is quiet, ethereal confidence and elegance that she has in them.  My inner elf came out a little bit when making this dress, and it really evolved from my original ideas. But it did give me that very ethereal magical feeling which is what I wanted in the first place. Thanks for letting me share that magic with you! ✨ (Seriously tho, go listen to "Saturn" by Sleeping at Last. Thank me later :))

Quarantine Collection

Image
Hello World! After a summer of social distancing and quarantining, I've emerged with a few new pieces! First off, I watched Amazon's Making the Cut and got soooo much inspiration to design my own outfits. I decided to make two summer dresses. I designed, drafted, and sewed them all on my own (no patterns :D). Here they are! The white dress has bows that tie over the shoulder and another bow tie in the back. The yellow dress has a bow detail on the back and also ties over the shoulder. Of course, I had to make a matching mask... And here's the bow detail in the back They're such simple dresses but they made me so happy! And I hope they make you happy too :)  Thanks for stopping by!

Wendy Darling

Who else relates to Wendy? Caught between childhood and becoming an adult - do I move on or can I stay longer? I know I related to her. And no matter how old I get, I don't think I'll ever grow up entirely ♡♡♡ So I made a Wendy dress at the beginning of the summer and forgot to post about it... oops :) I used a simple pattern for this dress and put elastic around the waist, neck, and sleeves. It was a super simple project I made in the first few weeks of summer after finishing my sophomore year of nursing school, but it pleased my romantic side ♡♡♡ I hope you have a wonderful fall and no matter what happens, remember the second star to the right shines in the night for you... to remind you that your dreams really can come true ♡☆

Vanyar Elven Gown

Image
An elven dress worthy of an elf maiden of the Vanyar. The Vanyar, also known as Fair elves, or Light-elves, were the fairest of all elf-kind, hence the name. I made this light silky gown with silver trim to satisfy my inner elf. The bodice is boned and laces in the back, and I'm really happy with how it fits :) don't mind the road signs :)  also dont mind the van, the lighting was good lol

Maiden Dress

I'm back from semester three of nursing school!!  So I started this thing like three years ago and finally finished it during my Christmas break. The hardest part was all the hand-sewn eyelets down the sides but it super satisfying to lace it up. I used my POTC Elizabeth nightgown for the dress underneath and then made the little overdress out of some ivory calico.  The first eyelet I made three years ago I used blue ribbon because I could :) Side lacing details So I actually made the basket a few years ago too! I feel like this is something Cinderella would wear  before she got "fairy-godmothered" and I like it!! Thanks for reading!!

Exploded Cupcake 2.0

I'm not dead!! I started college, so sewing has kinda taken a back seat to nursing school. But I got a nice long Christmas break, so I decided to whip up a new gown. It's inspired by the Sissi Movies like my pink one . I think I might decorate it more when I come home again in the summer, but I didn't have enough time to hem yards of ruffles and bows. Also, my mom got me a "Sissi Star" necklace from Vienna for Christmas. Empress Elizabeth was known for the star jewelry she wore in her hair. Jewelers in Austria make star hairclips, necklaces, brooches, and earrings to commemorate the Empress. I was hoping for snow to take pictures, and two days before I left, it did! Oh, and I finally cut my hair! I donated 14 inches on New Year's Eve.  New Year, new hair.

Colonial Williamsburg Fall 2016 Day 2

On day two, I wore the riding habit. It was overcast all morning, but it held off long enough for the fife and drum march - we got to see Clare again! Even if it was overcast, it was HOT, m ostly because of the humidity. Kristi and I retreated to the cool shade of the Carpenter's shop to play the harpsichord again.   Clare knew more about my riding habit than I did, and tied my scarf for me Never mess with a girl with a musket ;) Lunch at the King's Arms.  We got to see our waiter from last time - he remembered us!  Stuck a feather in her hat and called it macaroni! Next we decided to do something crazy. It started raining cats and dogs at lunch time. My parents went back to our hotel and left Kristi and I do have are adventures in the rain. We decided to walk to Great Hopes Plantation. Yeah. It's over half a mile in the pouring rain. We had one umbrella, but it didn't do much good. Our petticoats were soaked up to our waists, but ...
