New Patterns, New Inspiration

Image
A Jolly Holiday to Hobby Lobby! Whenever there is a really good sale at Hobby Lobby (as in $0.99 pattern sales) you just have to take advantage of them. Mama and I had such a fun time searching through the patterns, and I went home with new inspiration.  Me and my Mom  I love sales, don't you?  My new patterns   This one does close in the back with a zipper, but I can think of several ways to get rid of that. It also comes with pattern for pocket hoops.  I'll use this for my Dicken's Caroling costume I haven't made yet :)  A pattern for my dad... ...and for us girls.

I've lost my mind

Image
Yes, I have lost my mind. I'm suffering from post-homeschool ball I-want-to-make-everything-18th-century-syndrome. (Quite a common ailment with me, really.) Last Saturday I started on a robe a l'anglaise   , but realized very quickly that I would need a dress form to fit it properly, and a better fitting pair of stays. Wait- did I really say that- a new pair of stays???? Yes I have said many times that I never wanted to make another pair of stays, but here I am cutting out the pieces for another pair! (See? The homeschool ball was last night, and it was the best night ever! We danced for four hours to live music- I can't wait for next year, and next year's costumes! Getting the finishing touches on in the parking lot: The line up for the first dance: A right hand star... ...and promenade. Another historic costumer I met - don't you love her hair? Me and my dad The whole family: Me, Mama, Daddy, and Kristi (sister) The costumes worked out great, except  I felt like I was having heat stroke. :)

A little Straw Hat

Image
To make this little headpiece, I simply took apart a store-bought hat, and redecorated it.

Dancing Shoes

Image
The question "what to wear?" becomes a lot harder to answer when it comes to shoes. Of corse there are wonderful shoe reproduction companies, but I didn't want to spend a large amount of money on something I wouldn't  wear all to often. So I settled on dancing slippers for footwear at the spring ball. I had those black ballet slippers, but you know how much fun a new pair of shoes is! Of corse they were rather plain... So I added some twinkle to the toes.
